880 - Capstone Portfolio
When defining the term metadata, a commonly heard definition is ‘data about data’. I like to use this kind of infinitely regressive definition in a similar way to describe information literacy as metalearning -- essentially learning how we learn. This capstone portfolio is more than just a collection of assignments or achievements. It is a prime example of metalearning. It answers the question of why those assignment and achivements are worthwhile for me personally as a learner and collectively as a professional librarian. This process is fostered in the design of the program itself. Beginning with explanations of theory, it builds upon theory to the development of tools; then, applying theory and tools into real world contexts; and finally expressing how the entire learning process fuels one's own inquiry toward self-directed and life-long learning.
