811 - Eudora Public Library
The evaluation of the Eudora Public Library was a comprehensive exercise in real world needs assessment for an information agency. This involved an environmental scan, evaluation, and recommendation of customized information services and products for this site. Working with another student on this project was very helpful in organizing such a large-scale process and it provided the entire assessment with a more balanced perspective. It also provided valuable first experience in co-authorship.

802 - Communication Learning Group Presentation
Teaching my fellow peers about communication -- one of four theoretical areas that informs library and information studies -- helped me to formulate my own passion for this particular topic. In this project the preferences of my clients (fellow students) were foremost and I was able to establish many valuable skills in information seeking, repacking, teaching, and presentation. In hindsight, a website, rather than a blog, would have been more appropriate, as the chronological nature of a blog required that I lead the class through its navigation in my presentation. I did provide detailed handouts of the information in the order that I presented it which was met with positive feedback on its design and usefulness.
